How to cast Android phone or tablet to Windows 11 computer

In Windows 11, you can receive the screen from an Android phone or tablet through an app. This process is called “Casting” at Google, and at Microsoft it works through an app called “Wireless Display.”

The wireless display app in Windows 11 lets Android devices connect to a Windows 11 PC. This way, Android users can display their device’s screen on a larger screen.

Casting Android to Windows 11 works with audio and image and requires a stable internet connection. Therefore, all PCs, tablets, and/or phones must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

To install the wireless display app, you need to add the app through the optional settings. Then, after installing the app, you need to configure the allowed connection in Windows 11 and start the app. Here’s how it works.

How to cast Android phone or tablet to Windows 11 computer

Right-click on the Start button. Then click “Apps” on the left and “Optional features”.

Click on the “View Features” button. Next, in the search box type: wireless display. Then click on the result and click next.

Now click on Install. The wireless display app will now be installed.

Install wireless display app

After the wireless display app is installed it is time to configure Windows 11 to accept Android phone or tablet connections.

Go back to settings, click System, and then “Projecting to this PC”.

The image below differs. Keep this in mind.

Change the option “Some Windows and Android devices can project to this PC when you allow them to” to “Always on” or “Enable”.

At the bottom, you can still set whether a PIN should be asked for an Android connection. Select the desired option.

Optionally you can change the option “This PC can only be discovered for projection when it’s plugged into a power source” to off. This way you can project when the PC is running from the battery.

Projecting to this PC in Windows 11

To get started, open the Wireless Display app on your Windows 11 computer and start searching for devices to cast to from your Android device.

You can now find the name of your PC in the list and connect to it. In addition, your Android phone or tablet screen will now be displayed on your Windows 11 PC.

I hope this has helped you. Thanks for reading!
